1) philodendron hope: the monstera deliciosa look-alike

Often confused with a Monstera Deliciosa, the Philodendron Selloum or Philodendron Hope, has large, lobed leaves and vibrant green color, this plant is sure to catch anyone's eye. We're not kidding, these leaves grow to 2'-3' in length and width given enough space and light! It's like having a little piece of the jungle right in your own home.

It's crazy to think that you can grow these big, gorgeous plants from such tiny seeds! They're somewhat tricky to start, and they're not the fastest-growing seedlings, but their growth speeds up with each new leaf!

2) adenium obesum: the desert rose

Looking for a plant that thrives in dry and arid conditions? Look no further than the Adenium Obesum, also known as the Desert Rose. This unique-looking plant has a thick, swollen trunk and beautiful, colorful trumpet-shaped flowers. It's like a work of art in your garden!

These seeds are very beginner-friendly, germinating quickly and easily. However, once the seeds do germinate, the grow slows down, and it can take some time for this plant to reach maturity. The key thing to making a desert rose plant happy is light, so make sure to give these beauties as much direct sun as you can! Growing this plant from seed may take some patience, but the end result is definitely worth it!

Prepare to be amazed by the living stones! These plants have evolved to mimic the appearance of stones, making them blend seamlessly into their surroundings. It's like nature's own magic trick! Growing living stones from seed can be a bit challenging(the seeds are teeny!), but once you see these little camouflaged plants sprouting, you'll feel like a proud magician.

4) beaucarnea recurvata: the ponytail palm

Contrary to what the name suggests, Ponytail Palms are not meant for ponies. These quirky plants have long, thin leaves that resemble a ponytail, hence the name.

The seeds germinate easily, but are another slow grower like the desert rose(even more so!). So don't worry, if your ponytail palm isn't growing much, it's not you, it's the plant! They are incredibly low-maintenance and can survive in almost any environment. So, even if you don't have a green thumb, you can still enjoy the beauty of these unique plants by growing them from seed.

5) aloinopsis: the jewel of the desert

If you're a fan of succulents, then you'll definitely want to add the Aloinopsis to your collection. With its colorful, jewel-like leaves, this plant is a true gem.

Aloinopsis seeds are, like many other succulent seeds, very very small. As a result, they're rather tricky to grow. The tricky part in particular, is in keeping the seedlings alive! The seeds germinate rather quickly as succulent seeds go, but the seedlings do take a lot of time and care to grow to a mature size. That being said, growing Aloinopsis from seed is a rewarding experience, as you get to witness the transformation from a tiny seed to a dazzling succulent!

Looking for a plant that steals the spotlight? Sinningia, also known as the Gloxinia, is the perfect choice. With its vibrant, trumpet-shaped flowers in various shades of pink, purple, and red, this plant is a true showstopper.

It's not just the beautiful flowers, or even the adorable fuzzy leaves that make this plant unique, however. Sinningia are a Caudex plant, which means they grow bulbous stems for storing water, which gives them an incredibly eye-catching look! Growing Sinningia from seed requires a bit of extra care, but the stunning plants are well worth the effort.

 8) fenestraria: baby toes

This adorable succulent earned the nickname "Baby Toes" due to its small, cylindrical leaves that resemble tiny toes. But here's the quirky part: these leaves have translucent windows on top, allowing sunlight to reach the plant's underground stem. It's like nature's own version of a skylight!

Fenestraria seeds are very small and thus rather tricky to germinate and grow from seed, but make a perfect challenge for the avid indoor gardener!

9) chlorophytum amaniense: the alien spider plant

The Chlorophytum Amaniense is commonly known as the Mandarin Plant or Fire Flash Plant. Can you see why?

It's rare to find a plant that produces such a stunning orange coloration on it's foliage. It's a true conversation starter and a must-have for any plant enthusiast.

Despite it's unique appearance, these plants are very easy to care for, just like their cousin, the Spider Plant. They're relatively easy to grow from seed, and grow steadily given enough light and space!

10) oxalis: colorful and active!

This peculiar plant, also known as the "shamrock plant," is a true gem in the botanical realm. With its delicate, clover-like leaves and vibrant colors, it's sure to capture your heart.

Oxalis can come in greens(i.e. Regnelli), purples(Triangularis), and a mix of the two(Iron Cross)! Not only that, but they produce small and adorable trumpet-shaped flowers that range from white, to lavender, to bright pink depending on which Oxalis variety you have.

But here's the kicker: Oxalis has a bit of a split personality. During the day, it spreads its leaves wide open, basking in the sunlight like a sun-worshipping yogi. But as night falls, it folds its leaves and goes to sleep. How adorable is that?

While Oxalis can produce seeds, they're usually grown from dragon-egg-looking bulbs, and make for a perfect beginner-friendly gardening project!
